Beat the Heat: No-Cook Dinner Ideas

Keep It Cool — No Oven Required

When summer temperatures soar, the last thing you want is a hot kitchen. The good news? Some of the most satisfying dinners require zero cooking. These assembly-style meals come together in minutes and keep everyone fed without breaking a sweat.

1. Build a Grazing Board

Grazing board with deli meats, cheeses, olives and dips

Lay out a spread of deli meats, cheeses, olives, crackers, fresh fruit and dips like Marzetti® Ranch Veggie Dip or hummus. Everyone builds their own plate — no plates to wash, no heat required. Add a drizzle of Marzetti® or Girard’s® dressing over a handful of greens on the side and you have a complete meal.

2. Rotisserie Chicken Wraps

Pick up a rotisserie chicken on your way home and shred it straight from the packaging. Layer into flour tortillas with crisp romaine, shredded carrots, avocado and a generous drizzle of Marzetti® Simply Dressed® Ranch Dressing. Dinner in under 10 minutes.

3. Deli-Style Pasta Salad

Cook pasta the night before (or early morning before the heat sets in) and refrigerate. At dinner time, toss with Girard’s® Champagne Vinaigrette, halved cherry tomatoes, cucumber, olives and fresh herbs. Serve cold — it only gets better as it sits.

4. Tuna or Chicken Salad Lettuce Cups

Open a can of quality tuna or use leftover shredded chicken. Mix with a spoonful of Marzetti® The Original Slaw Dressing, diced celery and a squeeze of lemon. Spoon into butter lettuce leaves and top with sliced almonds or sunflower seeds for crunch.

5. Grain Bowl with Pantry Staples

Vibrant grain bowl with chickpeas, tomatoes and feta

Pre-cooked grains like farro, quinoa or brown rice (from a pouch) are your best friend in summer. Top with canned chickpeas, sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, crumbled feta and a big drizzle of Girard’s® Greek Feta Vinaigrette. Ready in five minutes, no stove needed.

6. Gazpacho + Crusty Bread

Chilled red gazpacho with cucumber garnish and crusty bread

This chilled Spanish soup is made entirely in a blender with raw tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, garlic, olive oil and sherry vinegar. Serve with crusty bread or crackers and a simple green salad dressed with Marzetti® Sweet Italian Dressing for a light, refreshing dinner.

Tips for Keeping Dinner Cool All Summer

  • Cook once, eat twice: If you do turn on the stove, cook double portions in the morning when it’s cooler. Use leftovers as cold dinner components later in the week.
  • Stock your fridge strategically: Keep deli meats, cooked grains, washed greens and pre-cut veggies ready to assemble at a moment’s notice.
  • Lean on quality dressings: A great dressing transforms simple ingredients into a real meal. Keep a few Girard’s® and Marzetti® favorites in the fridge door.
  • Embrace the charcuterie mindset: There’s no rule that dinner has to be hot. A beautiful spread of cold ingredients is just as satisfying — and far more refreshing in July.
